Dr. Mishra is the son of generations of Indian scholars, priests, yogis and Ayurvedic physicians and he continues in this lineage. His traditional education in yoga and the Vedas began during his childhood under the guidance of his grandfather, Saryug Mishra, who was scholar of Veda, Purana, Mimansa a yogi and an Ayurvedic physician. His father Deo Nandan Mishra was also an Ayurvedic physician who participated in his son's education. Dr. Mishra's formal education began at an ashram and then at Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi. After his graduation, he served as the vice-principal at the buddhist Philosophical Sanskrit School in Keylong(H.P.). In 1992 Dr. Mishra received a Ph.D. in Sanskrit literature from the Banaras Hindu University.
Since 1992, Dr. Mishra has been teaching classical yoga of many types-including astanga, Iyengar, Nada, Pranayama, Kundalini and Hatha. He also uses a yogic method to teach Sanskrit language. He teaches the six classic system of Indian Philosophy and also teaches Indian religion, including the Vedas, Upanisads, Purana and Tantra. A skilled teaches many kind of meditation and chanting and can provide mantra initiation. Dr. Mishra also teacher he teaches the principles of ayurvedic medicine and ayurvedic massage and methods of incorporating spiritual practice into one's everyday life.
His knowledge of Vedic scriptures provides him with a vast understanding of esoteric diagnostic skills and tools such as palmistry and astrology, the use of gem stones and seasonally-relevant treatments. Since 1991, Dr. Mishra has travelled each year to teach in other countries. He has taught in Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Israel, Canada and the U.S. During this time, students have also travelled from all over the world to India to study with him and to receive the benefit of his knowledge and his experience. Dr. Mishra speaks several Indian languages, English, Spanish and some German, which makes his teaching available to students from many countries.
